Protecting Yourself From Phishing

Phishing is a type of fraud that is done primarily through email, in which the sender does their best to appear to be someone from iWantClips.

  • The sender’s goal is to obtain access to your login information to your IWC account (or even your personal email account), especially your password, to do such things as steal your payouts, obtain your personal information, steal your content, etc. Usually, this is done by trying to get you to click on a link within the context of a fabricated situation. Such examples could include, but aren’t limited to, a “security alert”, “site update”, or “monetary offer”.

*Note that iWantClips representatives will never ask an Artist to directly share their password over an email or chat, nor request an Artist log into their iWantClips account by means of a link.

  • Phishing emails typically come from “spoofed” email addresses that appear to be from the person or group the sender is pretending to be. Usually, the phrase “iWantClips” will be included somewhere in the email.
*Note that it is possible for the sender to make the email appear as though they are emailing from an @iWantClips email address. Therefore, it is imperative to double-check where the email is being sent from.

  • The following are some examples of Phishing emails to be aware of:
