Push Notifications for Incoming Video Calls

Why should I turn on message notifications?

If you want to be notified of incoming video calls, even when you’re not on the site, turn on push notifications. We currently have the NTFY app as our current push notification app, with more options coming soon. This ensures you don’t miss a call, even if you’re away from your computer.

Will fans see my phone number or personal information?

No. Fans never see your phone number, NTFY details, or device information. Notifications are one-way alerts sent securely through the platform. Fans only ever connect with you through iWantClips.

Do I take the video call inside NTFY (or the connected app that I choose)?

No. The connected app is only for receiving incoming call notifications. You will always take the video call directly on the iWantClips website.

How do I turn on push notifications via NTFY?

  1. Download the free NTFY app from the App store or Google Play.
  2. Go to your Video Call Dashboard on iWantClips.
  3. Find the section called Push Notification Status.
  4. Copy your Notification Topic shown in your settings.
  5. In the NTFY app:
    1. Tap "+" to add a subscription.
    2. Tap "Use another server"
    3. Enter" https://push.iwantclips.com" as the server.
    4. Paste your Notification Topic
    5. Tap Subscribe
  6. Go back to your Dashboard and click Test to confirm setup.

Why do I need to use a Notification Topic?

The topic is your unique code that ensures notifications are sent only to you. This protects your account and ensures alerts are delivered correctly.

How do I turn off push notifications?

Go you your Video Call Dashboard, find Push Notification Status, and toggle it off. You can turn it back on anytime.

What does the "Magic Link" include in the notification do?

When you receive a message about an incoming video call, the Magic Link lets you join the call in one tap.

It's a secure, one-time link that:

  • Opens the site in your phone's browser.
  • Automatically logs you in.
  • Works for 5 minutes after the fan starts the call; after 5 minutes, this link will not work.

Do I have to take the call from the same device I receive the notification on?

No. The notification simply alerts you about the incoming call - you don't have to answer it on the same device. You can:

  • Move to your desktop or laptop.
  • Use a tablet or any other mobile device.

Once you log into your account on that device, you'll immediately see the call notification and can join the call from there. Note that you have 5 minutes to answer a user's call.

Will I be charged for push notifications?

We don't charge for sending notifications. However, your data usage may apply, but there are no SMS carrier fees.

What if I'm not receiving notifications?

Try the following:

  • Double-check that the NTFY app is installed and active on your device.
  • Make sure notifications are enabled for the NTFY app in your phone settings.
  • Confirm that Push Notification Status is toggled ON in your Dashboard.
  • Verify that you correctly set up your Notification Topic.

How often will I get notifications?

You'll only receive a notification when you have an incoming video call - never marketing or unrelated notifications.

What happens if I miss a call?

If you don't join the video call within 5 minutes, the call will expire. The fan can try calling again, or you can message them to coordinate another call.
