How to Fix the "419" on Login
What is a 419 Error?
A 419 error means that your login session has expired or the security token used to verify your request is missing or invalid. This can happen if:
- You’ve been on the login page for too long before submitting.
- Your browser is blocking necessary cookies.
- There’s an issue with cached data or browser extensions.
Steps to Fix the 419 Error
1. Refresh the Page and Try Again
- Simply refresh the page (Ctrl + R on Windows, Cmd + R on Mac) and try logging in again.
2. Clear Your Browser’s Cookies and Cache
Sometimes, old cookies can cause login issues.
How to clear cookies and cache
Google Chrome:
- Click the three dots in the top-right corner.
- Go to Settings → Privacy and security → Clear browsing data.
- Select Cookies and other site data and Cached images and files, then click Clear data.
- Restart the browser and try logging in again.
Safari (Mac/iPhone):
- Go to Settings → Safari → Clear History and Website Data.
- Restart Safari and try again.
Firefox:
- Click the menu button ☰ and select Settings.
- Go to Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data → Click Clear Data.
- Restart Firefox and try logging in.
3. Try Incognito/Private Mode
Open your browser in Incognito mode and try logging in:
- Chrome/Edge: Press Ctrl + Shift + N
- Firefox/Safari: Press Ctrl + Shift + P
- If login works in Incognito, clearing your cookies (Step 2) should fix it permanently.
4. Disable Browser Extensions
Some ad blockers, privacy tools, or security extensions may interfere with login.
- Try disabling them temporarily and log in again.
5. Ensure Cookies Are Enabled
Make sure your browser allows cookies:
- In Chrome, go to Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data → Ensure Allow all cookies is enabled.
6. Switch Networks or Devices
If you're using a VPN, corporate network, or public Wi-Fi, try:
- Turning off VPNs or proxies.
- Using a different internet connection (e.g., mobile data instead of Wi-Fi).
7. Try a Different Browser
If the issue persists, try logging in using a different browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari).
